Stage Two:
Beginning Ballet
This stage is designed to lay the foundation for developing future ballet technique. For Stage 2 level A, a dancer needs to be at least 8 years old; no previous experience is necessary. For Stage 2 level B, dancers must have completed level A or its equivalent.

In Stage Two, we focus on understanding correct posture and alignment, which allows for greater balance and controlled movement later. More complex rhythms are introduced to develop musicality and coordination. The ballet vocabulary grows as we stress using correct terminology.

In Stage Two, dancers are invited to include the optional Extended Study Package. This class exposes students to the techniques of different styles in a choreographic format. Techniques include jazz, contemporary, theatre dance and/or character dance.
Stage Two classes meet twice a week.

Stage Three:
Intermediate Ballet
Dancers in Stage Three have a 90-minute class twice a week and must be at least 10 in September 2021.

After completing Stage Two or its equivalent, the classes expand to 90 minutes, and the Extended Study Package options increase. The three levels within this stage continue to build on the basics with an emphasis on developing strength and flexibility. Students become acquainted with a wider variety of steps and positions and enchainment (combinations) have increased difficulty.

Moving through these next levels requires the student to have a good understanding and execution of the basic technical principles taught in the previous stage.

A high level of accomplishment and competency is expected. Dancers should be comfortable with the mastery of all previously learned steps. A strong ballet foundation is required and dancers should perform confidently and with aplomb.

Classes for Adults
Whether you are coming back to ballet after time away or starting from scratch, our adult ballet program is a fun, anatomy-based way to meet your fitness goals.
At TYB we pay particular attention to alignment, joint health, and proper muscle engagement to avoid injury and build balanced, full-body strength.
We strive for a judgment-free, open, and friendly class dynamic where questions are welcome and limits are always respected.
Performance opportunities for interested adults are also provided. We hope to see you in class soon!
